This is the last of this wine so be quick to snap it up. Fruit was sourced from a single vineyard near the Hill River sub-region of Clare. Fermented on skins for 2 weeks and then left in older oak for 30 months to allow the massive tannins and flavour to soften and create this complex wine. Transferred to bottle with no fining and no filtration.
Montepulciano is such a diverse variety that can be created in so many beautiful ways. This wine has taken time and hasn’t been rushed, so it should be savoured. Delicious aromatics of the expected Black berry and other dark fruits. So tightly packed together, you will have to keep swirling to release every layer of flavour. Earthy overtones with delicate spice hits and a gentle slap of leather. Mouth coating tannins that are persistent and give the wine length and structure. A serious wine to have a laugh with.
