Fruit was sourced from the Faulkner vineyard in Penwortham, Clare Valley. An accidental purchase that has resulted in a fabulous wine. Hand picked, foot stomped by Oscar (with clean feet!) and left to ferment 100% whole bunch to sugar dry. Pressed off to one older french oak barrel to complete Malolactic fermentation and left on lees for a year. Racked from barrel to be bottled with no filtration, fining or any tannin additions. Small sulphur addition at bottling to keep the wine fresh.
This is a delicate display of a fragrant variety. A wine with medium intensity but bundles of flavours such as plum, blackcurrant, hint of orange and green bean, floral petals and violets plus a touch of licorice, spice and herbal notes. This pretty wine has soft cherry, raspberry and cassis flavours with a lovely rounded finish of subtle oak to complete the package. Enjoy now or cellar for 5-8 years.
